Tuesday, June 20, 2006Gems Slam Stars 10-7 |
|---|
| After great starting pitching by both Gems starter Nick Dunning and Stars Colin Brennan, tonight's Twin City at Quincy game seesawed back and forth most of the game.
The Stars threatened in the top of the sixth after loading the bases with nobody out but a home-to-first double play limited the damage to one run off a wild pitch. In the seventh inning, Twin City broke it open with four runs, capitalizing on a Gems error and pitching control problems with an RBI single by Colin Brumagin and an RBI double by Simon Cherney. The Gems brought the game back to within one run in the bottom of the eighth off a Dan Quinn single, a Sac fly by Andrew Bennett and a RBI Double by Pat Minogue. But that didn't matter because in the bottom of the ninth two outs Gems Catcher Dan Quinn hit a Grand Slam to shut the door on the Stars 10-7. |
