The 2006 CICL All-Star game will pit the "Odds" squad made up of players from Danville, Twin City, Quincy and 2 players form Springfield against the "Evens" squad made up of players from Dubois County, DuPage County, Galesburg and also 2 players from Springfield. The CICL announced the players selected by the coaches to participate in the 2006 All-Star game at the home field of the Dupage County Dragons in Lisle, Illinois, the Benedictine Sports Complex, on Wednesday, July 12.

This year's game will feature the annual Dinger Home Run Derby which will start at 5:15 PM and last 45 minutes. Official All-Star gametime will be 7:05 PM.

In what must be a first for all sports in the United States, the All-Star game will pit the CICL "Evens" against the "Odds." The All-Stars participating on the Odds team are players from teams that were in 1st, 3rd and 5th place on July 5, the day the coaches selected the players for the event. The Evens are from the teams who were in 2nd, 4th and 6th place. To make it an extra special event, the players from the 7th place team were split up to play on both teams. Top that, Bill Veeck, wherever you are!

Official Field Manager for the Odds team will be Jaimie Sailors of the Danville Dans, he team leading the league on July 5. The Evens will be led by John Fitzgerald of the Dubois COunty Bombers, who were in second place on July 5.All other team managers will serve as coaches for their respective squads. This year's game will be played at the Benedictine Sports Complex in Lisle, home of the DuPage County Dragons. Game time is 7:00 PM. A Home Run derby will start the evening's festivities at 5:15 PM.

GAME SUMMARY

Odds Topple Evens in Lisle 3-1 July 12, 2006

Lisle, Ill . – The Odds Team defeated the Evens Team 3-1 at the Village of Lisle – Benedictine University Sports Complex in the 2006 CICL All-Star Game.

The Odds picked up solo runs in the eighth and ninth innings for the win. Galesburg reliever, Davy Fields, struck out the first two batters in the eighth before allowing a single to Quincy's Scott Simon. Simon advanced to second when Dans first baseman, Garrett Gipe was hit by a pitch, and later scored on an RBI single by David Brumagin of the Twin City Stars.

Fields picked up the loss allowing one run on two hits, while striking out two hitters.

Quincy catcher, Dan Quinn added an insurance run for the Odds on a leadoff home run in the ninth off Dubois County reliever, Chris Vaculik.

Quincy reliever, Pat Venditte, stole the show for the Odds Team. Venditte entered the game in the seventh and struck out Dragon catcher, Kevin Dubler and Rifle first baseman, Marcus Artner left-handed before striking out Galesburg second baseman, Bo Irons right-handed. Venditte earned the win in relief and MVP honors, striking out the side on ten pitches.

The Evens team scored their lone run in the fifth. Artner singled and scored from first on an RBI double by Dubois County's David Burns.

First Half Player Award winners, Scott Simon and Garrett Gipe, each had two hits in the win. Simon was 2-4 with a run scored and Gipe was 2-3 with a hit by pitch.

David Brumagin also had two hits for the Odds, going 2-4 with an RBI.

Bradley Goldsmith (Dubois County), Marcus Artner, and David Burns each had a hit for the Evens team in the loss.

Galesburg reliever, Mitchell Bialosky, joined Venditte as the only other pitcher to strike out the side.

Quincy pitcher, Matt German pitched a scoreless ninth to earn the save for the Odds.
